Julia is now over 20 lbs. and is about 29 inches long. She is a whole year old! She sleeps well,
waking only once in the night to have a snack, we are thinking about weaning her in August!
One of the best ways to calm her down is to take her for long walks in her stroller. She is an independent kid,
so she does not really like the confines of a snuggly, even though she likes to be held a lot. We have discovered
the marvels of a backpack carrier...if only I had a rear-view mirror for it! Just yesterday (July 2, 2003) she took
her very first steps! She walked from the fridge to momma with daddy cheering her on. She was very proud of her
accomplishment and giggled for awhile afterwards.
Julia is beginning to show more of her true personality--she has a temper! And makes sure to make clear her likes
and dislikes. She thinks that she is a hilarious card--she plays peek a boo by herself with the curtains, makes fish
faces, and plays "keep away" with people. She likes to wink at strangers and pretend that she is shy around friends.
She loves baths, her Noah's Ark mobile and is always smiling, laughing and shrieking!. In addition to
this she has learned to walk with her walking toy quite steadily! She has a fabourite stuffie (Bella the bunny) and
a security blanket (yellow flannel)
She is a morning person and loves to smile a lot when she first wakes up. The easiest way to make her laugh is
by kissing her neck--she seems to be ticklish there, although she is also getting pretty ticklish under her arms now too!
She likes to laugh at the sound of tape (packing, duct and cello) as it comes off the rolls, so wrapping gifts with her
is quite hilarious!
Julia has begun playing peek-a-boo with other kids and loves being sung to. We attend a Rhymes That Bind group
at Norwood and she adores them. We also recently finished a Books for Babies group. Now that mom is back at work,
Julia attends daycare and is adjusting beautifully. I think she just loves to be around other babies!
